I'm a features editor, most recently at Esquire. I also write, mostly about people—Shia LaBeoufTom Hardy, the high-profile defense attorney Benjamin Brafman and the campus in Amish Country behind the planet’s most epic concerts. I grew up in Upstate New York, went to Wesleyan University, and have lived in Philadelphia and San Francisco.

"Behind the Iron Closet," a story I edited at GQ about the crackdown on gay culture in Russia, written by Jeff Sharlet, won the 2015 Ellie for Reporting. “House of Pain,” an exposé by Christopher Glazek on the billionaire family behind Oxycontin, won the 2017 Hearst Editorial Excellence Award for Public Interest. “‘This Place Is Crazy,’” by incarcerated journalist John J. Lennon, was a finalist for the 2019 Ellie for Feature Writing.
