I'm a features editor at Scientific American, where I lead technology and engineering coverage across the magazine and daily site. Before that, I was a senior editor at Fast Company, ran Esquire's longform desk for seven years, and edited at GQ.
I write, too, mostly about people—Shia LaBeouf, Tom Hardy, the defense attorney Benjamin Brafman, and the campus in Amish Country behind the planet’s most epic concerts. Stories I've edited have won the National Magazine Award for Reporting ("Inside the Iron Closet," by Jeff Sharlet) and a Hearst Editorial Excellence Award for Public Interest (“House of Pain,” by Christopher Glazek) and been a finalist for the National Magazine Award for Feature Writing (“‘This Place Is Crazy,’” by incarcerated journalist John J. Lennon).
